We were at the park a couple of days ago. Owen and Chloie were following each other in the tunnel when Owen runs out and starts shouting at me, "Mom, I gotta tell you somethin'! Here's the scoop -- Chloie pooped her pants." And off he runs.... Sure enough, the tunnel was not a pleasant smelling place. And it only took about a day for me to realize where my son comes up with dorky sayings like this. I "had a scoop" to share just the next day.
After devouring his oatmeal earlier this week, Owen rips off his bib and shouts, "Everybody! I'm outta here!" Matt and I just look at each other and crack up wondering... where on earth are you going, son???
And just one more example of his dramatics... Owen told me yesterday, "Mom, come out and watch us play sandbox or we'll get super sad."

Zoo Time
We had such a fun zoo trip today! The weather was gorgeous, the kids were sweet and the company was great! It's just such a joy to watch them run around and discover new things. Chloie is finally at an age that she can keep up... for a couple of hours anyway, and actually enjoy the trip too.
I wasn't sure we were going to get past the entrance. Owen and Chloie were so excited about the little waterfall.
Chloie is mesmerized by the zebras.
Climbing a frog. The most embarrassing part of the trip... when Owen claims he is "standing on the frog's penis to help him climb up." Umm... no dear, that's his leg.
So glad to have good friends to share the day with.
When Matt asked Chloie what she liked at the zoo, she answered, "Run around." So evidently I could have just taken her outside, and we'd have had as much fun for her.
Owen's favorite part by far was this cool tractor and barn. Owen was so serious about driving it. Here he is backing it into the barn. He had to check it's engine... it was leaking oil, you see. He was very upset that other kids were driving his tractor. I had to explain many times that not all John Deere tractors are his. Farming runs thick in this boy's veins!

Holiday Happenings
What a blessed Christmas season our family has enjoyed this year. Just a few memories I hope to remember.... We started our night with In-n-Out Burger and a walk around the neighborhood to check out Christmas lights. The Christmas lights were such a hit this year. Owen actually got mad at our neighbors when they took theirs down the day after Christmas. He wouldn't even roll down his window to say hi that day.
I guess I might have overdone the "better be nice or you won't get any presents" this year. Owen got his cherished train table. But after it was all set up, and he was really getting into his choo-chooing he stops and says, "Why did I get this train table?" Matt and I look at each other and start with, "Because it's Jesus's birthday, and we're celebrating..." To which he cuts us off, "No, why did I get it because I was a rude boy." Well...... I don't know!!!!
Chloie was a doll with her dolls. She knew just what to do with the baby bottles for her baby, and evidently Owen does too! She's also a fan of all the tents, tunnels and 150 balls that now litter the front room.
Chloie tuckered out, but Owen couldn't end the night without eggnog. I'm pretty sure his dad had the same expression when I said I was getting out Christmas cookies and eggnog. They're both a little ridiculous about holiday treats.
Yes, I think it was good.
Our neighbor gave us some special hot chocolate treats, and Owen was so excited about it.... But it turns out Chloie is the hot chocolate drinker, and Owen.....
is s party pooper...
"It's too hot." he says of the luke warm chocolatey milk.... "Put it in the 'frigerator." And after five minutes in there.... "Oh, yes! This is good! I like it like this!" ummm... yuck....
And lastly, this is just Chloie who amazes me. She can just pick up a pen like it's completely natural and even tell me what she's drawing like "circle" or "letters." She's pretty neat, I think!
