Things I Want to Remember

There are just those little moments every day that I keep telling myself I need to write down because they make me laugh. So over the past few days I've been keeping tabs on his little sayings. This post will be very much full of random Owen sayings that I just want to save forever.

Driving home past bedtime, I tell Owen to close his eyes and rest. Owen says, "Owen can't do it. Owen kinda busy."

On another night also driving home past bedtime, Owen softly mumbles, "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." over and over...

I pull out of a parking lot kind of fast, Owen says, "Momma, remember that white truck peels out." Yes, I remembered it. It was like four months ago, but it was at that exact same parking lot.

Owen walks over to Chloie who has spit up. "Oh, my goodness. Chloie spit up. Owen wipe it."

Matt cut the grass. Owen says, "Daddy mow grass nice and short."

We pull up to his friend's house for a birthday party. I tell Owen we're here, and he announces to me, "Owen not shy."

Momma sings a song Owen approves of, and I hear, "Owen like it." Momma sings a song Owen doesn't approve of, and I hear even louder, "Owen don't like it."

Owen has trouble getting a toy to work. "This not workin' real good."

Owen sees a nativity, "Happy Dirbay, Jesus!"

Owen says goodbye to his friends after church, "Bye, Luke. Be careful!"

And just about everything is "kinda hard" or "kinda big" or "kinda small" or "kinda dirty" or a broken toy is "kinda junky."

Or he needs to "rest a bit" or "play a bit" or "read a bit."

And many things probably will happen. "Owen probably get hurt." And "Momma probably kiss it." And "Daddy probably be home soon."

And I can't forget how most of his little sayings are usually done with a scrunched up nose, serious eyes, and a knowing nod.

I just love his budding personality (most of the time... :), and don't want to ever forget these precious two year old moments!

  1. Everyone calls them the terrible twos, but I "kinda" thought they were terrific twos "probably" most of the time!
