Well, the day started out so lovely with some of our favorite friends coming over to play with a recipe of Pumpkin Spice Latte that turned out so yummy... But then we went to the park....
On the way there, Owen does a major wipe out with his dump truck and skins up both knees pretty good. Once he is settled and playing, I put Chloie on her blanket with toys. She is just having a delightful time until I decide I will hold her up and chat with her a bit. As I'm holding her hands, a giant snot bubble forms beneath her nose, and I let go of one of her little hands to wipe her nose. Well, of course she hates having her nose wiped and flails her little body. Since I only had her with one hand she falls down awkwardly. Immediately, she wails and stops using her arm. After watching her for about on hour checking out all her favorite toys with only her left hand and leaving her little right hand completely lifeless at her side, I called the doctor. Unfortunately, we had to interrupt two great naps the kids were having to go to the doctor, but it was worth it. The doctor called it nursemaid elbow and said it was quite common (though that does little to make me feel less lousy). At this point Chloie wasn't crying at all, but she hadn't moved her arm since waking her from her nap. The doctor took her good arm and gave it a slight twist and said if she does this to her other arm and she starts to cry, it is most certainly the disalignment of the bones in her elbow. Sure enough, the doctor slightly twisted her right arm, and Chloie wailed. Then she did something... I don't know because I had to look away... to put Chloie's arm back in alignment. Within minutes, Chloie reached for a toy with her arm and hasn't been bothered by it since.
But that wasn't the end of our exciting day.... Owen wanted to keep up with Chloie so as we went out to get the mail, he plowed headlong into a metal loader bucket on his push toy tractor. Our neighbor, Tracey, called hello and Owen turned to look, stopped pushing his tractor, but for some reason continued moving his body. He got over it rather quickly when Tracey soothed him with one of her famous popsicles. However one more dramatic adventure needed to happen. So once Daddy pulls in from work, Owen goes running full speed to help Daddy drive the Jeep... and again falls completely flat on his face in the driveway... whew... time for the kids to get some sleep from their rough day.
Oh, and the happy picture of my kids was totally taken yesterday. That was a better day...
So sorry to hear you had a rough day, but I'm glad that everything turned out okay!
