Well, we worried and stressed and changed our minds several times, but in the end decided to take both kids with us to celebrate Prabal and Lindsey's wedding(s) in San Francisco this weekend. And while it definitely had rough patches, ovreall, we're so glad we took both of them.
The kids were awesome on the plane. Owen was a lap baby for the last time since he turns 2 in two days. Unfortunately, on the way there it was a completely full flight so we couldn't sit in the same row. But Owen was super good sitting on Daddy's lap. Chloie was fine until she decided she definitely needed to eat. I'm sure the guy sitting next to me was super happy about that...
Owen was the life of the rehearsal. The cathedral was absolutely beautiful. Too bad with two kids to run after my camera never made it out of the hotel room... Anyway, you know how those Catholic reherasals can drag on, but Owen was there running around causing ample distraction for everyone. He would just walk up and down the front pew of groomsmen... what did Prabal have like 12 of them???... and give them all knuckles and high fives and repeat anything they'd tell him to.
The ceremonies (Catholic and Hindu) were by far some of the most beautiful I have been to, but sad to say I sure didn't see much of either of them. Owen became a super big daddy's boy this weekend, which Matt loved, but made things pretty hard on me when Owen just couldn't be with him. I'm sure Prabal and Lindsey have lots of video with Owen in the background asking, "Where Daddy go?" And little Chloie decided she was a mommy's girl this weekend. Thankfully, we had some wonderful friends that helped out and kept me sane (by finding alcoholic beverages at precisely the necessary moment). And everyone so graciously kept telling me how wonderful and adorable my babies were... even though I'm pretty sure some of them didn't really mean it :)
Some of Owen's favorite parts of San Francisco were the steep hills and elevators. And his favorite wedding event had to be the awesome reception at the Tonga Room where they had a pool in the middle of the room with a boat that "made mucis and mooze (had a band and moved back and forth in the water). It also rained in the room. I guess you could call it a step above our Enochsburg reception. We were able to keep the kids out until 11 and really enjoy ourselves at the same time.
I guess we'd have to call this our first family vacation. Even though we travel several times a year, this was our first expedition outside of Greensburg, Indiana, and I'd call it a success!
